Blaine doesn’t want to keep their relationship a secret anymore. Kurt disagrees.
“Kurt, please…” Blaine whispers, stepping closer to Kurt and ripping the pads off.
“No,” Kurt hisses, putting his hands up and stepping back, tripping over a discarded towel. “I’m finally getting somewhere. I’m finally being accepted in this place. I’m not about to throw it away because you can’t keep your mouth shut.”
“So what? Everything you said the other day,” Blaine swallows and looks down at the strapping on his hands, “was a lie? Why would you do that?”
Kurt grits his teeth together and licks his lips. “Because sometimes I want to prove to myself that I can get every and any guy in this school. And I was right. You mean nothing to me, Blaine. I’m well aware that you’re a bad influence and I can’t have you tarnishing a reputation I’ve worked so hard to build.”
He turns away, hitching his bag on his shoulder. “Threaten me again and someone will make you pay for it.”
“Don’t walk away from me,” Blaine snaps, grabbing Kurt and shoving his back into the row of lockers. Kurt’s eyes widen, his breathing quickens. “You don’t get to spend half a year trying to talk to me and break me and, I don’t even know, be my fucking friend, and then…what? Fuck me out of pity and then walk away? That makes me wonder if your reputation isn’t built on sleeping your way to the top.”
Kurt’s hand flies before he’s even aware of the reaction, the smack echoing in the locker room. Blaine is torn between grabbing Kurt’s wrist and cradling his cheek.
“Leave me the hell alone, Anderson,” Kurt says, furious. “What we had is over and I’m not throwing my life away on a Junior.”
It’s a low blow and Kurt knows it. Blaine knows it. He stumbles back a few steps, the breath in his his throat strangled as pain wells in his chest.
“You know-“
“Leave me alone,” Kurt repeats, shoving Blaine out of the way and leaving the locker room.
Blaine collapses onto the bench, sobs erupting as the burning ache in his heart explodes and he can’t breathe, he can’t breathe. He had tried so hard to change and he thought…but no, Kurt didn’t want him anymore. What was he meant to do now?
